Sent deep undercover to turn a rival agent, a burnt-out British spy (Richard Burton) makes an error that could compromise his mission—he falls in love. Adapted from John le Carré’s novel (and featuring the author’s most famous creation, George Smiley), this ruthlessly suspenseful Cold War thriller offers a gritty retort to the James Bond vision of espionage.
